User groups are a great way to get involved in the Joomla community and to meet other Joomla users, and they're held all over Australia (actually the world).
I attent the Melbourne Joomla User Group (MJUG) regularly, and it's made up of all sorts of people. There are members who own web development companies (such as me) as well people from organisations who use Joomla as their company website.
MJUG meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the city. We cover various topics, and they're not all technical. We aim to make the sessions inclusive and that attendees can feel comfortable to contribute and ask questions at any level.
The meetings are a great way to learn about various aspects of Joomla, web design and website management, and we've covered topics such as new Joomla features, SEO best practice and building a website with Joomla.
You can find your closest Joomla User Group on the joomla.org.au website the MJUG Facebook page for upcoming dates.
If you're in Melbourne I'd love to see you there.
I am the Head of Arts & Crafts (and co-owner) at Mity Digital, a Melbourne-based digital agency specialising in functional web design, Statamic and Shopify CMS platforms and beautiful graphic design.
